Opening Prayer
A Reading from the book of Genesis (Kathy N)
The ruler of Salem, Melchizedek, who was a priest of the Most High God, brought out bread and wine and blessed Abram, saying, “Blessed is the Most High God, Creator of heaven and Earth! And blessed be the Most High God, who delivered your oppressors into your hands.
The Word of God. R] Thanks be to God
A reading from the first letter to the Corinthians
(Rita)
What I have passed on to you, I received from the Christ, that on the night he was betrayed, Jesus took bread, gave thanks and broke it, saying, “this is my body which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way, after supper, he took the cup of wine saying ”this is the cup of the New Covenant in my blood. Whenever you drink it, do it in remembrance of me.”
The Word of God. R] Thanks be to God

Gospel
Jesus welcomed the crowd and spoke to them about the reign of God and healed all who needed healing.
As sunset approached, the Twelve came and said to Jesus, "Dismiss the crowd, so they can go into the surrounding villages and countryside and find lodging and food, for this is a remote and isolated area."
Jesus answered them, "Give them something to eat yourselves!" The disciples replied,
"We have nothing but five loaves and two fish. Or do you want us to go and buy food for all these people?" There were about five thousand gathered. Not counting the women and children
Jesus said to the disciples, "Have them sit down in groups of fifty or so." They did so and got them all seated. Then, taking the five loaves and two fishes, Jesus raised his eyes to heaven, said a blessing over them, broke them, and gave them to the disciples for distribution to the crowd.
They all ate until they were satisfied and, when the leftovers were collected, there were twelve baskets full.
Homily
Penny: May God be with you R] And also with you
Penny: Lift up your hearts! R] We lift them up to the Lord
Penny: Let us give thanks to the Lord, our God. R] It is right and just.
Patti Wise and faithful God, you have birthed us in goodness, gifted us with life and cherished us in love. In the heart of our being, your Spirit dwells; a Spirit of courage and vision, a Spirit of wisdom and truth.
Jay Cee: Sending among us Jesus, our Savior, you birth afresh in our world the power of Sophia-Wisdom, and in the gift of the Spirit, your creative goodness blooms anew amid the variety and wonder of life.
Penny In the power of that same Spirit, we lift our hearts in prayer, invoking anew the gift of wisdom and enlightenment, that we may continue to praise and thank you, in union with all who sing the ancient hymn of praise:
Kathy N: Holy, holy, holy, Lord God of hosts! The heavens and Earth are full of Your glory! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of our God. Hosanna in the highest!
Therese: We give thanks for the Creative Presence that began and sustains all that exists. We recognize that human life gives this Creator Spirit a particular way of coming to expression, and that in us the Spirit can sing and dance, speak and write, love and create.
Nick: Conscious that we live, move, and have our being in this Spirit, we give thanks for people throughout history who have affirmed this loving presence in all people and who have challenged people to give witness to this by lives characterized by mercy, gratitude, compassion, generosity, and forgiveness.
Gina: We give thanks for Jesus of Nazareth, who loved so greatly
and taught so clearly and courageously. He was able to set people free from images and ideas and religious practices that bound them into fear and a false sense of separation from the Source of all life and from one another.
John: We remember that at the last Passover Jesus celebrated with his family and disciples, he gathered with them around the table. Before the meal began, he went among them to as servant washing their feet, touching their hearts.
When he returned to his place at the table, he lifted the bread, spoke the blessing, broke the bread and offered it to them saying:
All: Take this, all of you, and eat, for this is my body which is for you.
Penny: At the end of the meal,
he lifted the cup, praised you for your goodness, and shared the cup with these words:
All: “Take this, all of you, and drink: this is the cup of my blood, the cup of the new and everlasting covenant. Do this in memory of me.”
Juanita: We pray for all who allow the mind and heart and spirit of Jesus to motivate their actions. We pray that Christian leadership may be open and affirming, creative and challenging. We pray that all Christians might better recognize, acknowledge, and acclaim the Creative Spirit's presence in all people, always and in all places.
We rejoice in the giftedness of each person here.
Rita: We are grateful for who we are for each other.
We consider ourselves blessed in and by the Creative Spirit.
May we be truly eucharistic in all we do.
To this prayer we give our Amen.
Cathy P: For ourselves gathered here we ask the grace to be who and what we ritualize here: the "body of Christ,"
people committed by our "Amen"
to allowing this Spirit to move freely in our lives.
We give thanks that we have gathered here as the body of Christ.
For it is through him, with him and in him that we give give glory and praise to the Holy One forever and ever.
John: Let us pray with the words that Jesus gave us:
John: Our Beloved who is everywhere, be Holy your name. Let your sovereign counsel be known. Let your will be done on Earth as it is throughout the universe. Provide for us our needs each day and forgive us our offenses even as we have forgiven our offenders. Do not let us enter into temptation but deliver us from the evil one. From you is born all ruling will, the power and the life; the song that beautifies all. From age to age it renews.
Amen.
Penny: Behold, this is the Lamb of God who invites us to this table to grace us with God’s presence and provide sustenance for our journey. How blessed are we who are called to the table of our God!
R: Jesus, you make us worthy to receive you. By your word and presence we are healed.

Concluding Prayer
May we always realize your presence in our midst, O Risen God, as we struggle to go forth and do the work you have entrusted to us: to teach others your Gospel of justice and forgiveness by the example of our lives. May we reveal to the world your compassion in our midst, to be architects of your peace, bringing all nations and peoples under your commandment of love. In Jesus’ name we pray. R] Amen
Final blessing
Let us extend our hands and pray together our blessing of each other: Nick
May you meet the Risen One
in the ordinary, the humble, the every day.
May your hearts be filled with wonder
and stirred by the Spirit,
and your tables wide enough for all who hunger.
Go now to tend to the world with tenderness,
to speak truth with courage,
and to follow the Risen One in all things
with hearts open to surprise,
and lives grounded in grace. R] Amen.
Dismissal: Our Mass is ended, let us go in peace. R] Thanks be to God!
