Karla: God beyond all measure, be the light of hope that continues to burn brightly when the temples we build collapse, hen the storms we encounter on our voyage sink us, when disaster topples our sureties. Help us to embrace your love that never ends, your compassion that never fades, your forgiveness that never falters.

Second Reading John

A reading from the second letter to the Thessalonians.

Brothers and sisters, you know how you ought to imitate us. we didn’t live undisciplined lives when we were among you, nor did we depend on anyone for food. Rather, we worked night and day, laboring to the point of exhaustion so as not to impose on any of you— not that we had no claim on you, but that we might present ourselves as an example for you to imitate. Indeed, when we were with you, we used to lay down the rule that anyone who didn’t work didn’t eat. We hear that some of you are undisciplined, doing no work at all, but acting like busybodies.  We command all such people and urge you strongly in our savior Jesus the Christ, to earn the food you eat by working hard and keeping quiet.

Some disciples were speaking of how the temple was adorned with precious stones and votive offerings. Jesus said, “You see all these things? the day will come when one stone won’t be left on top of another—everything will be torn down.” They asked, “when will this happen, Rabbi? and what will be the sign that it’s about to happen?”  Jesus said, “take care not to be misled. Many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the one’ and ‘the time is at hand.’ don’t follow them. And don’t be perturbed when you hear of wars and insurrections. These things must happen first, but the end doesn’t follow immediately.” Then he said to them, “nation will rise against nation, and empire against empire. There will be great earthquakes, plagues and famines in various places—and in the sky there will be frightening omens and great signs; but before any of this, they’ll arrest you and persecute you, bringing you before synagogues and sending you to prison, bringing you to trial before rulers and governors. and it will all be because of my name—this will be your opportunity to give your testimony. So make up your minds not to worry about your defense beforehand, for I’ll give you the words, and a wisdom that none of your adversaries can take exception to or contradict. You’ll be betrayed even by your parents, brothers, sisters, relatives and friends, and some of you will be put to death. Everyone will hate you because of me, yet not a hair of your head will be harmed. By patient endurance, you’ll save your lives.

Statement of Faith

 

Jay Cee We believe in the Holy One, a divine mystery
beyond all definition and rational understanding,
the heart of all that has ever existed,
that exists now, or that ever will exist.



Patti: We believe in Jesus, messenger of the Divine Word,
bringer of healing, heart of Divine compassion,
bright star in the firmament of the Holy One's
prophets, mystics, and saints.

Jay Cee : We believe that We are called to follow Jesus
as a vehicle of divine love,
a source of wisdom and truth,
and an instrument of peace in the world.




Patti: believe in the Spirit of the Holy One,
the life that is our innermost life,
the breath moving in our being,
the depth living in each of us.

stretched out all around us for those
with eyes to see it, hearts to receive it,

Galen: On the night before he faced his own death and for the sake of living fully, Jesus sat at the Seder supper with his companions and friends.  He reminded them of all that he taught them, and to fix that memory clearly within them, he bent down and washed their feet.

Nick: When he returned to his place at the table, he lifted the Passover bread, spoke the blessing, broke the bread and offered it to them saying:

ALL:  “Take and eat, this is my Body, given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”

Nick: He then raised high the cup of the covenant, spoke the grace, and offered it to them saying:

 

ALL: “This is the cup of the new Covenant of my Love  poured out for you.  As often as you drink of it, remember me.
 Pause 

 

Nick: Let us proclaim the Mystery of our Faith.
            
R] Christ is the Love in whom we believe, the Wisdom in whom we trust, and the Compassion that calls us to Justice.

 

Kathy N: Bread and wine is transformed by Your Spirit and we are transformed when we open ourselves to Your Spirit. Every time we share this bread and wine we choose to be transformed. We choose to love as You love us.

 

Cathy W: We share this bread and cup to proclaim the gospel of justice and peace. Share the bread with the words: You are a messenger of light.

 

R]: Through Christ, with Christ and in Christ,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit, One God of all!  May glory and honor be yours, forever and ever. Amen

Prayer After Communion:   

 

Janet: In union with all peoples living and crossed over into eternal love, we unite our thoughts and prayers, asking for wisdom in the circumstances of our daily lives. We seek to act justly and courageously in alleviating the suffering that desecrates the Earth and its peoples; to take risks in being proactive on behalf of the poor and marginalized; and to love all people with generosity of heart. We promise to resist the labels of “illegal”, “alien” or “undocumented”. We strive to accord each person the dignity and divinity you, Holy One, have designed for all of us, regardless of our circumstances in life. 

 

Galen: Holy One, your transforming light works through us. We strive to live compassionate lives; it is through living as Jesus lived, that we awaken to your Spirit within, refreshing us and leading us to dwell in Your house all the days of our lives. Amen. 

 

Juanita: Let us pray as Jesus taught us: 

 

Holy One, you are within, around and among us. We celebrate your many names. Your wisdom come; your will be done, unfolding from the depths within us.
