Barbara: Greeting: Welcome to Creation and celebrating the Feast of the Exultation of the Cross. 

It is a time to remember who we are and to whom we belong. Whether you arrive with joy or with burden, with clarity or with questions, know this: there is space for you here. In the heart of the Creator, in the body of Christ, in the breath of the Spirit—you are home with the Magdala Community.

Together, we lift our hearts to the One who breathed life into all things: to the Creator of stars and soil, of rivers and redwoods, of hummingbirds and humanity. Let us come as we are—honoring the beauty of creation, lamenting its wounds, and seeking healing, renewal, and right relationship with all beings.


Presider: In the name of God our Creator, brother Jesus, and Wisdom Sophia.

Presider: May the God of Hope, Peace, God’s Creation, and Love be with each one of you.

Response: Creator Spirit, have mercy on us.

Conscious of God’s mercy, compassion, patience and kindness in our lives, let us enter into the quiet of our spirits…asking for love and for a compassionate spirit with each other. R.


Creator God, You have entrusted the human family with the richly diverse gifts of creation, asking us to receive them with gratitude, share them generously, and care for them wisely and well.   R.


May God, the Creator of all time and space and the vast web of life in which we live, have compassion on us, free us from our brokenness, and guide us into the fulness of divine life.  R.


Opening Prayer

To the home of peace, to the field of love, to the land where forgiveness and right relationship meet,

we look, O God, with longing for Earth's children

with compassion for the creatures with hearts breaking for the nations and people we love.

Open us to visions we have never known.

Laudato Si On Care for the Common Home encyclical letter by Pope Francis - Teresa


“Praise be to you, my God.” In the words of this beautiful canticle, St. Francis of Assisi reminds us that our common home is like a sister with whom we share our life and beautiful mother who opens her arms to embrace us.  “Praise to you, my God, through our Sister, Mother Earth, who sustains and governs us, and who produces various fruit with colored flowers and herbs.”  This sister now cries out to us because of the harm we have inflicted on her by our irresponsible use and abuse of the goods with which God has endowed her.  We have come to see ourselves as her lords and masters, entitled to plunder her at will.  The violence present in our hearts, wounded by sin, is also reflected in the symptoms of sickness evident in the soil, water, in the air and in all forms of life.  This is why the earth herself, burdened and laid waste, is among the most abandoned and maltreated of our poor; she “groans in travail.”(Romans 8:22)  We have forgotten that we ourselves are dust of the earth; our very bodies are made up of her elements, we breathe her air and we receive life and refreshment from her waters.

A Reading from the Holy scriptures according to John 3: 13-17

Jesus said to Nicodemus “No one has gone up to heaven except the one who has come down from heaven, the Son of Man.  And just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, so that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life. For God so loved the world he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish, but might have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world but that the world might be saved through him.

A STATEMENT OF FAITH

We believe in the God of Justice and liberation,

who created all people with dignity, wisdom, and worth. God moves among the oppressed,

lifting the voices of those long silenced,

calling us to truth-telling and holy resistance.


We believe in Jesus Christ,

who walked with the marginalized,

who proclaimed good news to the poor,

and who embodied the radical love of God.

His life, death, and resurrection

calls us to dismantle systems of domination

and to embrace the sacred work of justice and mercy.


We believe in the Holy Spirit,

who stirs within us a righteous discontent,

awakening our conscience to the suffering of the world.

the Spirit strengthens us to act,

to name what is broken, and to build what is just.


We believe that faith is not passive but prophetic,

that ethics and theology must be lived in the streets,

in classrooms, in pulpits, and in places of power.


God calls us to an embodied faith,

where learning leads to action

and justice is the truest expression of love.

Nick: Blessed are you for the night and it’s light, for stars that emerge out of evening skies and the white moon’s radiance.


Morgan: Blessed are you for the might of your wind on the waters, for the swelling of the open sea and the rushing of crested waves.

Jay Cee: The world is alive with your goodness, Holy One, and we praise you for your embodied love. We open ourselves to your presence that we may love you and care for you in all things.


Barbara: In the blessed abundance of creation, we gather to celebrate Your nourishing gift of life. May our hearts be open as You invite us to participate in the wise and wonderful work of co-creation. 


John: We are grateful for Your Spirit whose breath inspired the primal waters, calling into being the variety and abundance we see around us. Your Spirit sustains and animates our every endeavor, inviting us to act in wisdom and in truth. We are ever aware of your Spirit in us and among us at this Eucharistic table and we are grateful for this bread and wine which reminds us of our call to be the body of Christ in the world. 


Ma Donna: We thank you for Jesus, simple servant, lifting up the lowly, revealing you as God-With-Us, revealing us as one with you, and all creation.


Presider: : I Invite all to bring down the Holy Spirit upon the gifts by extending your hands over your gifts of bread and wine.

We open ourselves to your Spirit present in every moment, who transforms this bread and wine and all of us gathered here.

May they become for us the + Body and Blood of Christ, May we become the Body of Christ as we fulfill your command of love.


On the night before he faced his own death, Jesus sat at supper with his companions and friends.  He reminded them of all that he taught, and to fix that memory clearly, he bent down and washed their feet.


Presider: When Jesus returned to his place at the table, he lifted the bread, blessed it, broke it and gave himself to all gathered there as he is giving himself to each of us today saying:  


Take this all of you and eat it: for this is my body

which will be given up for you.


When the meal was over he took the cup, again gave thanks and praise, gave the cup to his disciples and to us saying:


Take this, all of you and drink from it, for this is the cup of my Blood, the Blood of the new and eternal covenant. Do this in memory of me.


Presider: Let us proclaim the mystery of faith.

Gina:  O Divine Love, your transforming energy is within us and you call us to compassionate care for all of creation.  


Linda: We pray for wise leaders in our religious communities. We pray for courageous and compassionate leaders in our world communities.  


Inspire us to act justly and courageously in confronting the suffering that desecrates the Earth and its peoples.


Kathy N: We pray for all of us gathered here and like Jesus, we open ourselves up to your Spirit, for it is through living as he lived that we awaken to your Spirit within, 

moving us to glorify you, at this time and all ways.

In this Season of Creation, open our eyes to the beauty we too often overlook.
Open our hearts to the groaning of the Earth and the cries of all who are harmed by our neglect.

Meet us in this space, Holy One. Bless us with Your presence. Renew us in love, restore us in hope, and reawaken us to the deep truth:we belong to one another, and we belong to You.
