Presider: In the name of the Creator Spirit God, who gives birth to the Universe in love and justice.
The Word of God, who became Jesus, our human brother, among us to reveal our mission to care for each other and for all Creation,
And of the Wisdom Spirit, reaching out in the prophetic voices of Creation, calling us to renew Earth. Amen.
May the grace and peace of our God, who loves us, forgives us, and is calling us to transformation and prophetic action, be with you.
Expressions of Gratitude:
Presider:
We ask for grace to continually acknowledge our need to grow in goodness, peace, and caring for ourselves and others. God, you created us in your likeness, living among us, naming us as your own. R: Strengthen us to bring honor and glory to your name.
Pat: God, you sustain us in our daily lives, offering your love and grace, guiding us as your children. R: Lead us to transformation and action.
God, you promise us eternal hope, raising us up, calling us to new life in you. R: Lead us to acts of heartfelt compassion for others.
John: Loving God, whose glory it is always to be merciful, may your Word take root in us and bring forth an openness of heart in all our words and deeds. Amen
Judy: May our readings today become living bread. May your spirit empower them to shape us in Jesus’ likeness.
Opening Prayer: Penny
God of Compassion, may we pray not for what we seek but for what you seek. Open our hearts to hear your Word of justice and compassion; open our hearts that we may live that Word.
May the scriptures we read today become living bread.
May your spirit empower them to shape us in Jesus’ likeness.
A reading from the book of Exodus: 17:8-13 Kathy N.
Amalek came and waged war against Israel. Moses, therefore, said to Joshua, "Issue a call to arms to the Israelites, to fight the army of Amalek in battle. Tomorrow I will be standing on top of the hill with the staff of God in my hand." So Joshua did as Moses had said. Joshua led the army of the Israelites in battle after Moses had climbed to the top of the hill with Aaron and Hur.
As long as Moses kept his arms raised up, Israel prevailed, but when Moses let his arms rest, Amalek prevailed. Moses' arms, however, grew tired; so they placed a rock for Moses to sit on, and Aaron and Hur supported Moses' arms, one on one side and one on the other, so that Moses' hands remained steady until sunset. As a result, Joshua and the armies of Israel crushed the army of Amalek, putting them to the sword.
The Word of God. R. Thanks be to God!
Psalm 121:
Response: Our Help is from God, who made heaven and earth.
My heart's eyes behold your Divine glory! From where does my help come? My help comes from you who created heaven and earth. R.
Our God guards you, shades you. With Our God at your righthand, Sun cannot strike you down by day, nor moon at night. R:
A reading from the second letter of Paul to 2 Timothy 3: 14-4:2 Rita
You must remain faithful to what you have learned and believed, because you know who your teachers were. Likewise, from your infancy you have known the sacred Scriptures, the source of the wisdom which through faith in Jesus Christ leads to salvation. All Scripture is inspired of God and useful for teaching for reproof, correction, and training in holiness so that the children of God may be fully competent and equipped for every good work.
In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is coming to judge the living and the dead, and by that appearance and that power, I charge you to preach the word, to stay with this task whether convenient or inconvenient-correcting, reproving, appealing constantly teaching and never losing patience.
The Word of God. R. Thanks be to God!

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Luke: 18:1-8. Margaret
Jesus told the disciples a parable on the necessity of praying always and not losing heart: "Once there was a judge in a certain city who did not revere God or respect people. A widow in that city kept coming to the judge saying, 'Give me my rights against my opponent.' For a time the judge refused, but finally the judge thought, 'I care little for God or people, but this widow is a great bother. I am going to settle in her favor or she will keep coming and wear me out.' " Jesus said, 'Listen to what the corrupt judge has to say. Will not God then do justice to the chosen who call out day and night? Will God delay long over them? I tell you, God will give them swift justice. But when the Promised One comes, will there be any faith on earth to be found?"

Homily: Margaret
Statement of Faith: Judy and Linda alternate
We believe in the Holy One, a divine mystery
beyond all definition and rational understanding,
the heart of all that has ever existed,
that exists now, or that ever will exist.
We believe in Jesus, messenger of the Divine Word,
bringer of healing, heart of Divine compassion,
bright star in the firmament of the Holy One's
prophets, mystics, and saints.
We believe that we are called to follow Jesus
as a vehicle of divine love,
a source of wisdom and truth,
and an instrument of peace in the world.
We believe in the Spirit of the Holy One,
the life that is our innermost life,
the breath moving in our being,
the depth living in each of us.
We believe that the Divine kin-dom is here and now,
stretched out all around us for those
with eyes to see it, hearts to receive it,
and hands to make it happen.
Prayers of the Community: Gina
As we prepare for the sacred meal we bring to this table our prayerful intentions. Please feel free to voice your concerns beginning with the words “I bring to the table….”
We pray for these and all unspoken prayers in our hearts. Amen.
SIGN OF PEACE: John
Eternal wellspring of peace-
May we be drenched with the longing for peace
That we may give ourselves over
As the earth to the rain, to the dew,
Until peace overflows our lives
As living waters overflow the seas. (Marcia Falk)
Jesus said to his disciples, “My peace I leave you. My peace I give you.” Let us now extend a sign of peace to one another as we say,

Nick: We thank you for the gift of Jesus of Nazareth in history -- and the gift of Jesus in faith. On earth, his life burned with the vision of his mission on earth. Through the example of his life – his teachings and actions - he showed us not only how we should live, but also what was worth even dying for.
Presider: We open ourselves to your Spirit present in every moment, who transforms this bread and wine and all of us gathered here.
May they become for us the + Body and Blood of Christ, May we become the Body of Christ as we fulfill your command of love.
When his time on earth had come to an end, Jesus – aware of and accepting his destiny – gave us his life for the values that he deeply believed, lived and taught…his conviction that love is stronger than death. And then, in providing an example of this wisdom for all people in ages to come, he opened wide his arms…and died. And the spirit that lived in Jesus resurrected him to a new life, a promise made to all of us too who live the new story. Jesus is with us today and he will be through the end of time.
(With an outstretched arm, we pray the consecration together.
Jay Cee: We celebrate the open table, proclaimed by Jesus, our brother,
a table of abundant life, inclusive love, and redemptive liberation.
Karla: Awaken anew in our hearts the empowering grace of your abundant Spirit, who infuses these gifts of bread and wine with the transforming energy of life, to nourish and sustain us in our time of need.
Presider: On the night before he faced his own death, Jesus sat at supper with his companions and friends. He reminded them of all that he taught them, and to fix that memory clearly with them, he bent down and washed their feet.
In the power of the creative Spirit, Jesus lived life to the full.
We, too, are blessed in the power of that same Spirit, which we now invoke upon all gathered here, to celebrate the transformative energy symbolized in our gifts of bread and wine, given to nourish and sustain us into the fullness of life.
That same bread, Jesus took and broke, to restore the unity of our broken world. Jesus blessed you, then he shared the bread with those at table saying:
ALL: Take and eat the Bread of Life for all who hunger for peace and justice.
pause
After the meal, he then raised the cup of blessing poured in a spirit of solidarity and empowerment, spoke the grace, and offered them the wine saying:
ALL: Take and drink the Cup of Compassion for a broken world.
pause
ALL: We share this bread and cup to proclaim and live the gospel of justice and peace. We choose to live justly, love tenderly, and walk with integrity.
Let us proclaim the mystery of faith:
Penny: Christ has died. Christ is risen. The Divine Presence lives in us and through us in the world today.
Barbara: God, we know that you bless your church throughout the world. We, your people, ask for your grace that we may continually grow in our love and caring for Leo, our Pope, Bridget Mary, our Bishop and for everyone with whom we come in contact, especially those who live on the margins of church and society. They are all our brothers and sisters, members of your Blessed Family. We remember also all those, living and dead, who touched our lives and left their footprints on our hearts. We remember especially….(mention names here, if you would like to..)
Patti: We believe that the Spirit of God is at work in and among us and will do more than we could ever ask or imagine.
Cathy W. We believe that it is through Christ, with Christ, and in Christ, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honor is yours, Creator God, forever and ever.
Communion Rite:
Janet: Let us pray as Jesus taught us.
Holy One beyond all names
Eternal Wellspring
May love rise again in us today
With food for every table
Shelter for every family
And reverence for every life.
Forgive us our failings in love
And free us from all falseness
That the light of our souls may shine
And the strength of our spirits endure
For Earth and all its people
This day, tonight and forever.
Amen.
(Celtic Version of Prayer of Jesus by John Philip Newell)
Galen: Jesus, You call us to speak truth to power; we will do so.
Jesus, You call us to live the Gospel of healing and justice; we will do so.
Jesus, You call us to be Your presence in the world; we will do so
Presider: This is the bread of life and the cup of blessing. Blessed are we who are called to Christ’s table.
May we live as the Body of Christ in the world, serving all in need, especially those living on the margin.
Karla: Please receive/share Eucharist now, saying: “You are the bread of life.” And “You are the cup of compassion.”

Closing Community Prayer :
Barbara: Oh Holy One, as we step into each new day, we humbly place ourselves under Your loving care. Surround us with Your shielding presence and let Your grace be our armor. Guide our steps and lead us along paths of righteousness. Keep us safe from the unforeseen dangers of the day and guard our minds against negative thoughts. As we interact with others, let us be a beacon of Your love and peace, reflecting Your goodness in all that we do, for You, and You alone, are the Truth, the Faith, and the Way. In the name of all that is Holy, we pray. Amen.
Community Blessing and Commissioning:
Juanita: And together with our arms extended we say:
Spirit, be with us each and every moment of every day as we navigate these difficult times. Let our hearts be open to hear your message and give us the courage to act upon your messages, even when we are afraid.
