In the name of God our Creator, Jesus our Brother and the Holy Spirit. R: Amen.

The grace and peace of our healing God,

and our brother Jesus, the Christ be with you.

R: And also, with you.

Expressions of Gratitude:

Nick: We ask for the grace to continually acknowledge our need to grow in goodness, peace, justice, and caring for ourselves and others, especially the sick and marginalized.

Nick:  God, you created us in your likeness, living among us, naming us as your own.

R: Strengthen us to bring honor and glory to your name.

Nick:  God, you sustain us in our daily lives, offering your love and grace, guiding us as your children.
R:  Lead us to transformation and action.

God, you promise us eternal hope, raising us up, calling us to new life in you. Let there be peace on Earth.

R: Lead us to acts of heartfelt compassion for others.

Nick:  Loving God, whose glory it is always to be merciful, may your Word take root in us and bring forth an openness of heart in all our words and deeds. Amen

Opening Prayer:

God of Compassion, may we pray not for what we seek but for what you seek; may we discern not our wants but your will.  Open our hearts to hear your Word of justice and compassion; open our hands that we may live that Word in acts of generosity, justice, and consolation.

Penny: May the scriptures we read today become living bread.

May your spirit empower them to shape us in Jesus’ likeness.

A reading from the second book of Kings. 5: 14-17 John

Naaman went down and plunged into the Jordan seven times at the word of Elisha, the prophet of God. Naaman's flesh became again like the flesh of a little child, and was made clean of leprosy.

Naaman returned with a whole retinue to the prophet of God. On arrival, Naaman stood before Elisha and said, "Now I know that there is no God in all the earth, except in Israel. Please accept a gift from your grateful follower." "As God lives, whom I serve, I will not take it," Elisha replied; and despite Naaman's urging, Elisha still refused. Naaman said: "If you will not accept, please let me have two mule-loads of earth, for I will no longer offer burnt offerings or sacrifices to any other god except the Most High."

The Word of God.   R: Thanks be to God!

Psalm 98: Our God has revealed to the nation's God's saving power Jay Cee

Sing a new song to our God, who has done wonderful deeds, whose right hand and whose holy arm have brought salvation.

All the ends of the earth have seen the saving power of our God.  Sing praise to our God all the earth, ring out joy.

A reading from the second letter of Paul to Timothy. Lucia

Remember that Jesus Christ, a descendant of David, was raised from the dead. This is the gospel I preach; in preaching it I suffer as a criminal, even to the point of being thrown into chains-but there is no chaining the Word of God! Therefore, I bear with all of this for the sake of those whom God has chosen, in order that they may obtain the salvation to be found in Christ Jesus and with-it eternal glory.

You can depend on this:

If we have died with Christ, we will also live with Christ;

If we hold out to the end we will also reign with Christ.

But if we deny Christ, Christ will deny us. If we are unfaithful, Christ will still remain faithful; for Christ can never be unfaithful.

The Word of God   R: Thanks be to God

Alleluia (Randall DeBruyn)

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Luke. 17:11-19 Nick

On the journey towards Jerusalem, Jesus passed along the borders of Samaria and Galilee. As Jesus was entering a village, ten people with leprosy met him. Keeping their distance, they raised their voices and said, "Jesus, Teacher, have pity on us!" When Jesus saw them, he responded, "Go and show yourselves to the priests."

On their way they were healed. One of them, upon realizing what had happened, came back praising God in a loud voice. The healed person fell down at the feet of Jesus and spoke his praises. This one was a Samaritan.

Jesus took the occasion to say, "Were not all ten made whole? Where are the other nine? Was there no one to return and give thanks except this foreigner?" Jesus said to the Samaritan, "Stand up and go your way; your faith has been your salvation."

Homily: Nick

The Good News of Salvation!

R: Glory and praise to our Savior Jesus Christ!

Profession of Faith: Margaret alternate with Pat

We believe in God, the creator of the universe whose divinity infuses all that exists, making everything everywhere sacred.

We believe in Jesus, the Christ who leads us to the fullness of humanity.  Through him we become a new people, called beyond the consequences of our brokenness.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Wisdom who keeps the Christ-vision present to all who are searching for meaning and wholeness in their lives – and the Sustainer who heals and energizes us when our spirits may grow weary in our journeys.

We say: Amen to courage, to hope, and to truth.          We say: Amen to the partnership and equality of all people of different genders, races, and faiths.                                                                     We believe in a world of justice and peace for everyone, everywhere, with no exceptions.  In all of this, we surely believe.  Amen.

Prayers of the Community: Patti

As we prepare for the sacred meal, we bring to this table our prayerful intentions.  Please feel free to voice your concerns beginning with the words “I bring to the table….”

We pray for these and all unspoken prayers in our hearts. Amen.

Sign of Peace: Karla

Christ Jesus, you said to your friends: I leave you peace, my peace I give you. Look not on our failings, but on the faith of your Church, and grant us the peace and unity of your kin-dom where you live for ever and ever.

Amen.

The peace of Christ be always with you.

R:  And also, with you.

Let us offer each other a sign of Christ’s peace.

Offertory:

Our table is set, let us now offer our gifts to God.

Marita: Blessed are you God of all creation, through your goodness

We have received this wine we offer you: fruit of the vine and work of human hands, it will become our spiritual drink.

R: Blessed be God forever.

Linda: With humble spirit and loving hearts may you, O God, accept us and may the offering that we bring to this table be pleasing to you.

Prayer over the Gifts:

Judy: God, take our hands; take our lives,

Take these simple gifts we bring, that we might share in a common desire to help prepare the feast for all your people.  We ask this through Jesus the Christ.  Amen

(adapted from All Desires Known – Janet Morley p. 137)

Eucharistic Prayer:

Penny: We give grateful thanks for those who came before us, for all those who gave from their hearts, who gave from their lives, that there might be a better world, a safer world, a kinder world, we pray for peace in their name.

Therese: And for the children, that they may live, that they may have children of their own and that it will go on -  this great blossoming that is meant to go on and on – we pray for peace, in their name.

Linda: And for all peoples of this earth who have no voice in this,

For the animals that have no voice in this,

For the plants, the trees, the flowers that have no voice in this,

For all who share this earth with us, we pray for peace in their name.

Karen: We thank you for our brother, Jesus. He showed us so simply, so tenderly, how the world is in our hands. He had nothing in this world but your love, companions on the journey, and his very self. Together, that was more than enough, and that remains our clarity in the midst of confusion: the miracle of healing, new hope, nurturance, nourishment, liberation and life.

Nick: Please extend your hands in blessing.

Penny: Your Spirit is here in us and in the gifts of bread  and wine on this Eucharistic table. May we become gifts of wisdom, light and truth which remind us of our call to be the body + of Christ to the world.

Karla: On the night before he faced his own death and for the sake of living fully, Jesus sat at the Seder supper with his companions and friends.  He reminded them of all that he taught them, and to fix that memory clearly within them, he bent down and washed their feet.

All lift their plate and pray the following:

Nick: When he returned to his place at the table, he lifted the Passover bread, spoke the blessing, broke the bread and offered it to them saying:

ALL:  “Take and eat, this is my Body, given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”

All lift their cup and pray the following:

Nick: He then raised high the cup of the covenant, spoke the grace, and offered it to them saying:

ALL:  “This is the cup of the new Covenant of my Love  poured out for you.  As often as you drink of it, remember me.

Pause

Nick: What we have heard with our ears, we will live with our lives,

As we share communion, we will become communion

Both Love’s nourishment and Love’s challenge.

Nick: Let us proclaim the Mystery of our Faith.

All:

Christ is the Love in whom we believe, the Wisdom in whom we trust, and the Compassion that calls us to Justice.

Kathy N: Bread and wine is transformed by Your Spirit and we are transformed when we open ourselves to Your Spirit. Every time we share this bread and wine we choose to be transformed. We choose to love as You love us.

Cathy W: We share this bread and cup to proclaim the gospel of justice and peace. Share the bread with the words: You are a messenger of light.

All: Through Christ, with Christ and in Christ,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit, One God of all!  May glory and honor be yours, forever and ever. Amen

Prayer After Communion:

Marita: In union with all peoples living and crossed over into eternal love, we unite our thoughts and prayers, asking for wisdom in the circumstances of our daily lives. We seek to act justly and courageously in alleviating the suffering that desecrates the Earth and its peoples; to take risks in being proactive on behalf of the poor and marginalized; and to love all people with generosity of heart. We promise to resist the labels of “illegal”, “alien” or “undocumented”. We strive to accord each person the dignity and divinity you, Holy One, have designed for all of us, regardless of our circumstances in life.

Holy One, your transforming light works through us. We strive to live compassionate lives; it is through living as Jesus lived, that we awaken to your Spirit within, refreshing us and leading us to dwell in Your house all the days of our lives. Amen.

Gerry: Let us pray as Jesus taught us:

Holy One, you are within, around and among us.
We celebrate your many names.
Your wisdom come; your will be done,
unfolding from the depths within us.
Each day you give us all that we need.
You remind us of our limits and we let go.
You support us in our power, and we act with courage.
For you are the dwelling place within us,
the empowerment around us,
and the celebration among us,
now and forever, Amen.                              - Adapted by Miriam Therese Winter

Blessing:

Please extend your hands and pray our blessing together.

Nick: May the Divine bless us with discomfort at easy answers, social media half-truths and superficial relationships.

May our Pilgrim God nudge us toward new places, new adventures and new friends so that we may share the refreshment of our ever-surprising God of love.

AMEN
